Remodel Madness

Wow what a busy month! We have been converting our basement into a rental apartment. Our house has too much space for just the 2 of us. It has been stressful, scary, has and quite an experience. My amazing husband has done most of everything from the ground up, literally. There is now a kitchen where there was an open room to begin. So we literally started from nothing and have created something marvelous! He has had some great help from his mom, dad, sister Vanessa, and his brothers Jesse and Tom. We have built cabinets, walls and tons of things to make this an amazing apartment. We have our final inspection in the morning and then I can officially say IT'S DONE!!! What a glorious moment that will be. We have spent most of today painting and cleaning so our renters can move in tomorrow after noon. Here are some pictures of the process. I will post some of the completed kitchen tomorrow or so.


Above is Phil's brothers, Tom and Jesse building the bottom cabinets. Below is the only picture I can find right now of a "before shot " Like I said, a completely empty room when we started. Where you see the chop saw on the right is where we put in a small wall to make the room more closed.

Below is all of the custom made by my hubby cabinet doors, and drawers. Did I say how amazing my hubby? Pretty amazing I do believe.

Below is Phil standing over the newly put it sink. All we have left to do at this point is touch up paint and hang the cabinet doors. Look at the before and after shots WOWSER!!! I will take more pictures when the kitchen is completely done. So for clarification the new apartment will have 2 bedrooms, 1 large bathroom with a washer and dryer and a BRAND NEW KITCHEN!!!
